Topic: Christmas Scripture: John 1:14–1:18
First Sunday of advent
Latin “Adventus”, meaning “coming” or “arrival”
How do you get ready for Christmas, SPIRITUALLY?
“And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth…No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.” John 1:14,18 NRSV
God was sending his son on a rescue mission to earth
“And you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and he will be called ‘Immanuel’ (meaning, ‘God is with us’)”. Isaiah 7:14, in Matthew 1:23
God became one of us so He could know what it is like to be human.
God became one of us so that we could really know Him.
God became one of us so that He could save us.
Christmas invites us to believe the wildest of promises: God became one of us, so that we could become one with Him!
Ways to prepare for Christmas:
1) By reading God’s Word daily (or listening by Audio)
2) By singing God’s praises gladly
3) By serving others joyfully!
“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly…” (Colossians 3:16)
“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given...” (Isaiah 9:6)
