Who is Sebastopol Christian Church?
The Sebastopol Christian Church is a community of people who desire to know and follow Jesus. We are truly a multi-generational church with people from all ages and backgrounds. Since 1963, we have been a church that exists to serve Sonoma County and the world.
What denomination do you belong to?
We are a non-denominational Christian Church, though we are affiliated with other churches as part of the body of Christ. We choose to embrace Christian unity instead of one particular denomination.
What does it mean to be a Christian?
Simply put, a Christian is someone who has put their trust in Jesus and has made a decision to follow Him. Jesus died on the cross so that we might have forgiveness of our sins, eternal life, and peace with God. Everyone is given this invitation from Jesus. It is nothing we can earn- it is an undeserved gift.
How can I become a Christian?
John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."
Becoming a Christian happens when you make the decision to put your trust in Jesus and follow Him.
We have all sinned against God and need His forgiveness. This forgiveness is not earned or achieved by us in any way. Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sins and then He rose from the grave to demonstrate His power and victory over death. The gospel means 'good news', and this undeserved gift is the best news God could have given us.
How can I grow in my relationship with Jesus?
We believe God calls each of us to grow in our faith, and it is an exciting way to live. This is not a complete list, but growing in your faith includes these different elements: 1) Repentance is a U-turn or 180 degree change. It includes turning from sin and turning to the living God, as your mind, heart, and actions become in alignment with God's Word. 2) Reliance on the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, teach, and empower you to live the Christian life. 3) Fellowship is connecting in relationship and the participation in the ministry of a church, using your talents to serve. You are made to be part of an authentic community as you receive and give in joy. 4) Prayer is your spiritual pulse, drawing near to God in worship and lifting up the needs of other people to our gracious God. Our church exists to help you experience these aspects of your faith.
How can I be a member?
Church membership is open to anyone who has received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and who has given evidence of that decision through water baptism by immersion.
