The Book of 2nd Corinthians: Life On Life
GIVING AND RECEIVING A REBUKE
2 Corinthians 7:2 – 7:16
When you need to say something: 2 Corinthians 7:2-10

1) Praying first and expressing your sincere love can avoid some wrong turns.
2) Don’t let the issue fester inside of you - writing something down can help with clarification.
3) Make sure you have the actual facts.
4) Calmly explain your perspective: don’t be exaggerated or overly negative.
5) Realize it could be good and hurt at the same time - don’t be afraid to go there.
6) A rebuke gives an opportunity to set someone free.

When you need to hear something: 2 Corinthians 7: 11-16

1) Kindly ask if you’ve heard it correctly.
- Is there any validity to the rebuke?
- Is your pride getting in the way?
- Is it a blind spot or stubbornness?
2) Find out what help is available for deeper issues.
3) Change as much and as quickly as possible.
4) Stay out of unhealthy sorrow.

Take Home:God’s design is that rebukes emerge from love, and they are a gift that helps us grow together.
