WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3
Daniel Rangel –Field Director – Niños de Mexico
Introduction: Frances Bacon said: “It is not what men eat, but what they digest that makes them strong; it is not what we gain, but what we save that makes us rich; it is not what we read, but what we remember that makes us learned; it is not what we preach or pray, but what we practice and believe that makes us Christians.”
Serving is not about the people we serve; it is about the heart we serve them with.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3“We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Paul gives us three steps to make a difference in other people’s lives.
I. We need to get to work. (Because we believe in the cause of changing people’s lives).
Ephesians 2:10“For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
II. We need to make sacrifices. (Because we love the people we want to see changed).
Acts 20:35“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'“
III. We need to be patient. (Because we hope that a changed life will go into eternity).
Hebrews 6:11-12
Conclusion - Revelation 2:2 "I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love."
